“Accessibility allows us to tap into everyone’s potential.”
― Debra Ruh
Accessibility is the practice to ensure that anyone encountering your business, service, facility, or resource is able to access and experience it however they may encounter it. This may include public spaces and services (most notable restroom facilities), civic actions such as voting, website navigation, and daily tasks such as public transportation or food shopping. Accessibility is often associated with physical or mental impairments, but considerations should extend far beyond what is observable. This includes members of the trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming communities, Autistic people, people who are immuno-compromised and those that have invisible illnesses, and folx with sensory processing sensitivities and learning disorders.

- hire an ASL interpreter for live and streamed events
- offering virtual attendance options for conferences, events, and talks
- ensure your venue or office space is accessible
- add photos or icons to your signage
